WORKSHOPS & LECTURES
For a lecture presentation that recreates the experience at Twinrocker, we recommend seeing THE MARK OF THE MAKER, in the 16 mm film or the VHS video form. This award winning documentary movie by Chicago film maker, David McGowan shows all the beautiful movements of hand papermaking at Twinrocker. The film presents the beautiful purpose behind the enduring methods of making paper by hand. The 30minute film interviews Kathryn and Howard Clark who talk about their efforts to revive hand papermaking in 1972, when it was all but forgotten in the world. Three internationallyknown artists express their reasons for using handmade paper and share the excitement they experience as they create on Twinrocker paper. The personal insights of calligrapher Janet Lorence, watercolor artist Jim Cantrell, and book artist Michael Gullick are each inspiring and profound as you watch them put hand to paper. After the film or video presentation, we can answer any questions and elaborate on aspects which particularly interest your group. We can also bring Twinrocker handmade paper for purchase to the group at 25% off list price.
